News from my studio

Hi There,

Has May suddenly appeared from nowhere in your house?! Time has zipped by so fast this year but I have finally got a chance to catch up a little and let you know what's happening in the studio this month.

Swimmers at Sandycove, RHA 2022

Firstly I am so happy to have been once again selected for this year's RHA annual exhibition. I can't wait to see the full show with all the fabulous diverse talent that we have here in Ireland, a treat for the senses that leaves me feeling uplifted and also lucky to see my work included.

The preview evening or 'Varnishing Day' as it is known is on the 22nd May. So named as it was traditionally the day before opening when artists would varnish and put the final touches to their paintings. Exhibiting artist and their guest are the first to see their work hung in position. It's an exciting time, a bit like your child’s  first day at school, meeting new friends, which room is it in, who's sitting beside it. Silly I know.

 Greetings Cards

Some of you may have noticed that I have stopped doing limited edition prints, covid has put a halt on those for now but I am excited to be in the process of creating a new series of greeting's cards which I hope to launch in the next few weeks. I will include some of the most popular prints and some new work, so I can't wait to show you these!

"Baby steps' will be one of my new greeting's cards.

Some special offers for you this month

These oil sketches or studies are generally made in preparation for a larger painting, I often use these as a warm up exercise and as a way to make notes when working on a bigger canvas. By doing this first I have already made a lot of decisions in terms of composition, colour value etc, I am then free to decide what to keep and what to change.
I may not always work them up into a bigger piece and often elements will be noted and referenced in a completely different painting.

Available here at a special price which represents a big saving when compared to more detailed and larger finished works.

Oil on canvas board 20x25 cm unframed. Framing can be arranged, get in touch for details.

New studies appear regularly on my instagram page @annflynnart follow me there to see them first.
